The Sankara Hotel Nairobi is located in the Westlands part of the city. The hotel is owned by Westlands Hotels Limited/Sankara Hotels Group, and opened its doors to the public in 2010. It was operated by Sankara Hotels Group, until the rebranding was announced in October 2018. The Sankara Nairobi is largely targeted at the business traveler, and has a boutique vibe, despite its size (168 rooms).
The Sankara Nairobi joins a collection of about 150 boutique hotels around the world that are unique in design and thoughtful in spirit. On the continent, this is the first Autograph Collection outside South Africa. Another one is planned in Algeria and is expected to open in 2020.
The 168-room hotel is built on seven floors, with 6 meeting rooms providing almost 14,300 square feet of meeting space; complimentary valet and underground parking; six food and beverage outlets including Artisan – an international restaurant, Graze – a modern New York-style steakhouse, a Parisien-themed coffee shop, a rooftop bar, champagne bar, and wine bar; a fitness club; a rooftop swimming pool; and a full-service business center. The hotel is also fitted for accessibility.
Hotel room prices start at Bonvoy Member rates of $257 per night (inclusive of breakfast), with a 25% summer sale starting at $172 per night.
Alex Kyriakidis, Marriott’s President and Managing Director, Middle East and Africa commented, “Sankara Nairobi is a significant addition to our rapidly growing portfolio in the region and a testament to our conversion-friendly strategy.”
